Pre- & Post-natal massage: Whether pregnant for the first time or an experienced mother, all women can benefit from massage therapy during and after pregnancy. Well-versed in anatomy, pathology and a range of therapeutic techniques, I can help women through the various stages of maternity. Massage is particularly useful to mothers because as their pregnancy evolves, postural changes and added weight can cause discomfort and pain which in turn can lead to lack of rest and chronic fatigue. After baby’s arrival, massage can help expedite recovery and provide relief from the challenges of early motherhood. Placenta Encapsulation: The custom of consuming the placenta--often done as placenta encapsulation--is centuries old, practiced most often in Chinese medicine. I offer encapsulation with or without added herbs. Some benefits of placenta encapsulation include: Decrease in postpartum depression levels Increased release of the hormone oxytocin, which helps the uterus return to normal size and encourages bonding with the infant Increase in CRH, a stress-reducing hormone Restoration of iron levels in the blood Increase in milk production I will work with you whether you have a home or hospital birth planned. Calling at least 2 weeks before the due date is preferable so we can plan ahead. Baby Massage: Massage is a wonderful gift for you and your baby. It is not just a delightful experience and connection between you and this new life. I consider massage essential in the upbringing of a healthy child. On request I offer baby massage classes. I teach classes with 4 to 6 babies (6 weeks to 12 months). These are some of the benefits of Baby Massage: deep bonding better communication healthier growth due to an increase of growth hormones and decrease of adrenaline better digestion, less gas and colic calming deeper sleep
stronger immune system less infection increased motor skills release of birth trauma happier baby
